Classic shapes can be some of the most interesting pipes, as they are timeless and, as such, provide a solid base for modifying, especially if these modifications are utterly successful. A standard paneled Billiard from AKB Meerschaum, this piece is deceptively detailed, not simply for its draconic scale pattern, but for the panels themselves. These panels do not extend fully down the stummel, rather, they curve as they reach the heel and turn upwards. Instead of being carved parallel, the panels are, instead, slightly angled, making the aerial perspective distinct, drawing the eye down the stummel and towards the stem, creating a pipe that is almost aerodynamic.
