One of Dunhill's rarer iterations of their "03" Billiard, this Group 4 offering features a creamy military mount of genuine horn at the shank end. Furthering this piece's collectible appeal, the shank and mount are compressed to an oval cross section, exhibiting an even sleeker profile and emphasizing the bowl's height. It's an incredibly charming piece, the horn mount both allowing the pipe to be broken down even while hot while also presenting a wonderful aesthetic and color palette. A less often seen piece from Dunhill, this is one that no true collector should pass on, all dressed in the classic hue of the Bruyere line.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
