In Group 4 size, this "01" Apple from Dunhill exhibits a slight Brandy-like taper toward the rim, the base more rounded and voluptuous compared to the more consistently spherical renditions represented in The White Spot's portfolio. In line with the English marque's traditional shaping style, the proportions between bowl and shank are beautifully balanced for a consistent composition that's paired to a slender saddle stem that highlights the mass of the stummel.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit.
