As part of The White Spot's superlative Dead Root line, this Pot doesn't bear a designated shape number, which would otherwise be Dunhill's "06" design. Regarding form, it's a more slender take on the Pot: the shank and stem considerably slender and the bowl increased in breadth and stoutness. Such broad walls showcase stunning grain, with flame grain erupted upward and intersecting the briar's natural, horizontal growth rings. Typically, these growth rings are only evident after sandblasting, but this smooth rendition offers rare appreciation of them.
Dunhill's "DR" designation on certain Root Briars signifies a special class of pipes: Dead Root. Like all Root Briars, these pieces maintain flawless briar, but with especially choice grain on display. Before the Root Briar line's introduction in 1931 "DR" was stamped on Bruyere pipes that showed handsome grain, but Dunhill wanted a more grain-defining finish, leading to the creation of the Root Briar.
