Shape-wise, Rattray's "113" is a fairly muscular, yet thoroughly traditional straight Billiard. The bowl is firmly lined and upright, and the shank continues that robustness, having been drilled to accommodate the use of 9mm filters. It's a shape that fits in well to the Scottish marque's classic shaping style, and it's found here in the Brownie series.
In line with Rattray's Fachen pipes, the Brownie series draws inspiration from Scottish mythology: According to lore, the Brownie is a small, altruistic creature devoted to helping others, but it will disappear if one tries to reward its service with monetary compensation; instead, the Brownie loves sweets and candy. Naturally, Brownies wear only brown clothes, and Rattray's namesake series embodies that color palette in a rich sandblast, as well as the mythologically Brownie's helpful nature.
