Rattray's Nimbus line is named for the rings of fire and light adorning the heads of saints, angels, and other divine characters in medieval and Renaissance art. The series consists of a singular Calabash design with bright aluminum accents adorning the rim and shank end, the flashy accoutrements vibrantly contrasting the stummel's coloration. Shape-wise, this interpretation maintains the sinuous S-curve associated with traditional gourd Calabashes, but instead of the shape's characteristic cooling chamber and removable meerschaum cap, the Scottish marque has opted for a metal rim that's affixed to the stummel. Such a design choice affords the Nimbus Calabash a significantly deep chamber and will help protect the briar from charring when lighting the tobacco.
