Fluting is a design cue rarely used in pipe making, but Danish carver Poul Winslow likes it and often incorporates it as a feature in his designs. His 50 years of experience in doing so clearly pays off in this Freehand, with flowing fluted ridgelines wrapping around the fore and heel of the bowl providing a bespoke and stimulating presence in hand. A warm auburn stain and smooth finish accentuate the briar's grain, with the rim left lighter for contrast.
