A very Scoop-like aspect dominates the shaping of this Freehand from Poul Winslow, its rim echoing the curvature of the underside with a distinct upward arc at the far side. Covered with the knobby texture of plateau, that rim undulates and provides ample visual interest, as does the rest of the stummel, which conveys the tight striations of grain rising up the bowl via an attractive contrast stain. Ridgelines and grooves, vertical on the left and horizontal on the right, proffer tactile interest under the finger pads, and the round shank rises to meet a thin saddle mouthpiece for excellent balance in hand or teeth.
