If the bowl of this piece was broader and featured some firmer lines, I'd almost be inclined to label it as a Pot, but what we have here is a well-rounded and impressive take on the bent Billiard from Poul Winslow. The stout, forward urging bowl displays some subtle cheeking around its transition before gradually climbing up to the bamboo shank extension. The use of bamboo has recently started to become more a common feature in the Danish carver's work, with the organic material's stain and style varying from piece to piece. This particular example features a slightly darkened piece of bamboo, its knuckles displaying some rugged nodes. It provides a nice contrast to the smooth polished bowl, whose warm, vivid contrast stain highlights a wealth of stellar grain around the bowl.
