Simultaneously fluid and muscular, this Freehand from Poul Winslow is an excellent example of the Danish carver's superb shaping skills and expert finishing techniques. The firm ridgeline that wraps around the base splits off into a crisp ridgeline along the bowl's fore, coming to a defined point along the front of the rim. This piece is able to sit stably on flat surfaces, making it even easier to set down and admire the gorgeous flame grain on display as well as the mesmerizing birdseye along the inflated rim. A generous band of sterling silver graces the shank end before leading to a band of dark acrylic and a creamy-hued acrylic accent along the shank face. It's a pipe that's visually engaging and will supply its owner with years of enjoyment.
