Truly a stunning work, this Freehand by I. Baglan of AKB Meerschaum is shaped like no other pipe I have ever seen before. The marbled amber stem is gracefully curved and, as it descends from the button, pinched before flaring to a set of expansion rings, tapering again, and flaring to meet a bulbous shank face. On the underside of the shank begins a line of keeled scales which continue to the heel before terminating in a pair of circularly bent leaves that enclose a large relief carving of a flower on the fore of the bowl. the rest of the stummel is carved with a bevy of fronds and leaves, framing the stunning profile of the pipe with a masterful display of skilled carving. Sure to patinate beautifully, this pipe will make for a prized part of a collection, or fine every day smoker.
