A rather happy looking skull makes up the stummel of this pipe from AKB Meerschaum, wide grin smiling toothily (or perhaps toothlessly?)out at the viewer, crowned with a laurel wreath denoting Roman nobility. The fronds of this wreath are intricately detailed and wrap fully around the rim of the bowl, peaking at the fore above the skull. The lower jaw of the skull is actually separated from most of the stummel and doesn't touch the top of the jaw, allowing for a visible gap between the two and adding a layer of visual intrigue.
