This lengthy Billiard is part of a limited-edition line by Dunhill that's marked by brindled vulcanite stems of more varying, eclectic colors than normally seen from the esteemed English marque. A classic, poised Group 3 bowl with a flattened base allows this "10" to sit sturdily upright, while the smooth, beveled rim allows for easy bowl packing. It's paired to a long, arrow-straight of shank-and-stem combination, the latter comprised of brindled vulcanite with non-traditional tan and beige hues that adds pizazz to the warm color palette of the Cumberland sandblast.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe-smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."
