While the overall powerful, dynamic shaping of this bent Dublin from Poul Winslow is certainly impressive, what caught my eye about this composition is the subtler details. The way the Danish artisan chamfered the innermost portion of the inflated rim, for example, allows for a gentle, inward slope to the tobacco chamber. For another, the mouthpiece's gentle bend accentuates the form's elegant flow in profile while the stem's smaller diameter in relation to the shank face makes the sterling silver band even more visually captivating. On top of all that, Poul's oriented the block's grain patterns beautifully, bringing out a gorgeous display of flame through a vibrant contrast stain that gives extra definition to each individual tendril.
